This is the Festival Singers' first concert at Faith Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee. The venue was chosen to enable us to invite select high-school choirs from the area.
Part of our mission to raise the bar of music excellence is to engage with young singers and their directors with the goal of inspiring them through impassioned singing. We are honored to announce that we will be joined for this concert by extraordinary composers, Elaine Hagenberg, artist-in-residence with the Des Moines Choral Society, and Sylvester Otieno, of Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya.
In addition to Hagenberg and Oteino's music, we will also perform works by current and former Festival Singers.
This will be the Festival Singers' first concert in Jacksonville Beach and they are really looking forward to sharing their passion for great music with the people of North Florida. They will perform works by Festival Singers, Evan Powers and Skip Stradtman. They will also perform “The Beatitudes,” which FSOF commissioned in honor of their beloved artistic director, Dr. Kevin Fenton. It was composed by former Festival Singer, Dr. Troy Robertson, of Tarleton University in Texas.
The Festival Singers of Florida will be celebrating their 10th anniversary season with a concert on Saturday, February 3rd! The evening will include alumni, as well as special guests from incredible local high school choral programs! The concert begins at 7:30pm at First Baptist in Deland!
